The is the easiest Christmas cookie recipe ever, with just 2 ingredients! All you have to do is assemble and bake!
The Easiest Christmas Cookies Ever
For Halloween we tried a viral TikTok hack to make pumpkin sugar cookies with pre-made cookie dough. Our 2-ingredient Halloween cookies turned out so cute that we decided to try this hack with Christmas cookies.
These 2-ingredient Christmas cookies are made with refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough and Pillsbury Christmas Tree Shapes Sugar Cookie Dough.
Both the doughs are pre-made so you just layer them on a cookie sheet and bake them. The cookies meld together in the oven and the result is a super cute little Christmas tree on top. We also saw Elf themed sugar cookie dough and grabbed a package of that to try too.
Didn’t they turn out so pretty?!
I’m definitely going to make this recipe for all of our Christmas cookie tins that we gift to family and friends during the holidays. They’re so easy to make…they’re literally foolproof! And they taste yummy too!
Ingredients
- One Roll of Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (Value Size – 30 cookies)
- One 9.1 oz box Pillsbury Ready To Bake Christmas Tree Shape Sugar Cookie Dough
Kitchen Tools Used
For your convenience, I’ve included shop-able ad links to some of the products used to make this recipe. Disclosure policy available here.
Instructions
- Slice chocolate chip cookie dough into slices that are about 1/4″ thick and place cookie dough rounds on an ungreased non-stick cookie sheet.
- Place one Christmas sugar cookie on top of each chocolate chip cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges of the chocolate chip cookies just start to turn golden brown.
- Remove pan from oven and transfer cookies to a cooling rack.
Prep Tips
- Where To Find – Both of the ingredients used in this recipe are refrigerator cookie dough, so they should be available in the refrigerated section of your local grocery store, rather than on the regular store shelves.
- Yield – There are 20 cookie portions in the Pillsbury sugar cookie dough packages that we used and are pictured here. So the exact number of cookies baked will depend on how much chocolate chip cookie dough you have (as those package sizes can vary by brand). We used “value size” which has 30 servings, so we made 20 cookies. You may have leftover chocolate chip cookie dough, or yours might be extra thick and chewy depending on how thick you cut the slices of dough.
- Cooking Time – Depending on your oven, your cookies might bake quicker or slower than ours. All you want to make sure is that the cookies are done in the middle and not raw. Other than that, you can make them crispy or soft-baked.
- Storage – These cookies do not require refrigeration. You can store your Pillsbury Christmas cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You could also freeze cookies in a large freezer bag for up to 2-3 months.
- Variations – You could use this cookie hack with different sugar cookie designs too. We also made cookies using gingerbread cookie dough as the base and Elf sugar cookies on top. They also turned out pretty and they taste so festive!
