Heart Shaped Tortilla Chips for Valentine’s Day

When you think of Valentine’s Day recipes, it is usually sweet treats that come to mind.

That’s why I’m so excited to share these heart shaped tortilla chips! They’re super cute and festive…and super easy to make!

All you need are 3 simple ingredients and heart cookie cutters. The chips crisp up to perfection in just FIVE minutes in the air fryer or 12 minutes in a conventional oven. It doesn’t get any easier than that!

You can make these chips with either flour or corn tortillas, whichever you like best. We tried both!

These heart shaped chips looks so fun on a Valentine snack board or Valentine charcuterie board. LOVE!!

Kitchen Tools Used

Instructions

You can prepare your chips in the oven or an air fryer. Both work great and take just minutes!

I’ve created a video tutorial too:

Conventional Oven Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF
  2. Cut out the chips with heart shaped cookie cutters, as shown above.
  3. Place tortilla hearts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Mist with butter spray (or brush with melted butter) and sprinkle with salt. I sprayed and salted both sides of the chips.
  4. Bake for about 12 minutes, until the edges are golden and crispy. Flip chips halfway through baking. Place on a paper towel lined plate to dry.

Air Fryer Directions

To Prep: Pre-heat air fryer to 350 degrees F.

  1. Using a cookie cutter, cut heart shaped chips out of the tortillas.ย Place the cutouts on the air fryer rack.
  2. Lightly spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt.
  3. Air fry for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from air fryer.

Prep Tips

  • Tortillas – You can use either flour or corn tortillas for this recipe. The size of the tortilla doesn’t matter so much because we’re making heart cutouts.
  • Cookie Cutters – You can use any size heart cookie cutters; in fact, we used multiple sizes for ours! You just want to make sure that they are chip-sized (not large cookie sized), so you may want to stick with 2″ or smaller.
  • Butter – We used a butter spray, but you could also brush melted butter on top of the chips before sprinkling with salt. If using melted butter, take care not to over-saturate the chips, or they may become soggy. A little bit goes a long way!
  • Leftovers – Don’t throw away the tortilla scraps! You can use them to make this Migas Recipe – a delicious Tex-Mex breakfast with scrambled eggs and pan-fried strips of tortilla.
  • Storage – Keep your homemade tortilla chips in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days. A gallon size freezer bag would work too.
