Homemade Pumpkin Spice Mix
Nothing says fall quite like pumpkin spice!
Pumpkin pie spice is an aromatic blend of fall baking spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. It adds a festive fall flavor to cookies, pumpkin pies, lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin waffles, pancakes…can you tell I love pumpkin?!
I don’t know about you, but I look forward to “pumpkin season” pretty much all year long! (Just take a look at my recipe archives and you’ll see how many pumpkin recipes I’ve published!)
This homemade pumpkin pie spice may be used in any of your fall baking recipes that call for “pumpkin spice” in the ingredients list. It takes just a couple minutes to whip up a batch and it stays good for months! Who needs pricey store-bought spice blends when you can make your own at home!
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
- 2 1/2 teaspoons Powdered Ginger
- 2 1/2 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Ground Allspice
Instructions
- Whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
- Scoop into an airtight container, such as a mason jar with lid, for storage.
Prep Tips
- If you like cinnamon to not be as bold in the mixture, simply reduce it until you find the right ratio to fit your preferences.
- Spices – To achieve the best flavor, I recommend using the best quality spices you can find for this recipe. Cheaper spices tend to be a little less flavorful and less aromatic.
- Yield – This recipe yields about 2 Tablespoons of pumpkin spice mixture. However, you can easily make a bigger batch by simply doubling or tripling the ingredient amounts, keeping the same ratio of spices.
- Cloves – Some pumpkin spice blends include cloves, but they are one of those spices that you either love or you don’t love, so I did not add them to our mix. However, if you like cloves, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves to the above recipe.
