Cupid’s Arrow Valentine’s Party Punch
Is it really a party without punch?
Growing up, I remember that just about any special occasion had a big bowl of punch on the party table. It’s just such a festive thing because a punch bowl is usually ornate and beautiful and it’s filled with a colorful and frothy treat!
This Valentine’s punch is made with simple ingredients, but it tastes fancy! It’s festive, fruity, and fun…and you can whip up a batch in minutes!
The original recipe is boozy (grown-ups only), but I’ve also included instructions to make this recipe family-friendly so kids can enjoy their own festive drinks too!
This recipe is perfect for baby showers too! We had punch at my first baby shower and it was a real treat!

Valentine Punch Ingredients
For your convenience in re-creating this recipe, I’ve included shop-able ad links to some of the products we used. Disclosure policy available here.
- 1 jug strawberry juice (anything between 48-64 fl oz is fine) — It’s also ok to use a blend, like strawberry watermelon or strawberry lemonade.
- 2 cups vodka — I used plain vodka, but you could try a flavored vodka too.
- 1 liter ginger ale — I prefer the flavor of ginger ale with this recipe, but lemon-lime soda could work too.
- 1 bottle prosecco — Or your favorite type of sparkling wine (see FAQs)
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup strawberries — sliced
We also added some heart sprinkles for a decorative garnish, for Valentine’s Day and to go with the sweetheart punch theme.
Non-Alcoholic Version
To make this Valentine’s Day punch completely family friendly, use this ingredient list instead:
- 1 jug strawberry juice (48-64 fl oz)
- 2 liters ginger ale
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup strawberries, sliced
Kitchen Tools Used
- Large Punch Bowl — If you don’t have one on hand, this link is to a 3-gallon punch bowl on Amazon. You could also check your local antique stores!
- Ice Cream Scoop
Directions
Note: Whether you’re making the boozy version or using the non-alcoholic ingredient list, the instructions are the same.
Combine liquid ingredients (except sparkling wine) in a large punch bowl and stir. If the red color is really pale, you can add a couple drops of food coloring to make it prettier, totally up to you!
Pour prosecco into the punch slowly, so it doesn’t bubble up and overflow the bowl.
Add scoops of ice cream and sliced strawberries, so that the float on top and are evenly spaced in the bowl.
Ladle into serving glasses and enjoy immediately. We topped ours with heart sprinkles for a sweet v-day touch!
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Keep Punch Cold?
Let’s face it, warm punch isn’t very appetizing. Here are a few tricks to keep your party punch colder for longer:
- Keep all liquid ingredients in the fridge until you’re ready to mix the punch.
- Freeze some of the juice in ice cube trays and add those juice cubes to the punch. They’ll keep the party punch colder longer, without watering it down.
- Use frozen strawberry slices as a garnish. They’ll act like ice cubes, but also won’t water down the drink.
- Add more ice cream when the first round of ice cream melts, or is all scooped out of the bowl.
What is Prosecco?
Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine. It is similar to champagne, except champagne can only be called “champagne” if it is made in a specific region in France.
Prosecco is considered a “dry” wine, but it actually tastes fairly sweet due to the grapes used. For this reason, it is a popular choice to mix in cocktails.
If you don’t have prosecco on hand or prefer a different type of sparkling wine, feel free to substitute. California sparkling wine, Spanish cava, and sparkling chardonnay (one of my favorites) could all work here.
Can I Use a Different Flavor Fruit Juice?
Sure! Another fun option would be raspberry — you could garnish with fresh or frozen raspberries. You could also do fruit punch for the juice and garnish with maraschino cherries. So many fun options!
Can You Make Punch Ahead of Time?
I recommend waiting to make this punch until you’re ready to serve. There are a couple reasons for this:
- Sparkling wine and soda will both lose their bubbles over time. We don’t want our punch to taste “flat.”
- Ice cream melts!
The good news is that this is a super easy recipe and takes only a few minutes of prep time!
