If you love tequila drinks, then you’ve got to try Strawberry Ranch Water! This summer sipper is light, fruity, and bubbly, with zero carbs!
Strawberry Texas Ranch Water
Tequila has always been my favorite drink of choice and I love myself a good margarita. However, sometimes you want something that’s sweet, but not so sugary.
That’s why I’m so excited to share this new recipe for strawberry flavored ranch water!
It’s subtly sweet, bubbly, and absolutely delicious!
Smooth tequila combines with effervescent mineral water to create something absolutely refreshing. Fresh fruit adds a hint of sweetness, without adding tons of sugar like other mixed drinks.
This is also a fun drink to make for occasions like Valentine’s Day, with the strawberries that look almost like red hearts in the glass.
This is one of my new favorite tequila cocktails!

What is Ranch Water?
Ranch water is a tequila-based cocktail that combines silver tequila and sparkling water or mineral water, such as Topo Chico. It’s essentially tequila-flavored water with a hint of lime, just what you might want on a hot Texas day! It’s actually quite refreshing, especially with a squeeze of fresh lime!
We added a fruity twist to the original recipe by using strawberry flavored seltzer water and fresh strawberries. This adds a subtle sweetness, without being sugary. In fact, when using sugar-free seltzer water, this is a zero carb drink!
Like I mentioned earlier, ranch water is straight out of Texas, said to be the creation of Austin restauranteur Kevin Williamson. Within a few short years, it’s become ubiquitous on restaurant and bar menus around the state.
But good things don’t stay secret for long, and now ranch water is a trendy drink and loved far beyond the borders of Texas!
With only a few simple ingredients and no carbs, it’s easy to see why!
Here’s how to make it!

What is the Best Tequila to Use for Ranch Water?
Because it is a clear drink, silver tequila is ideal. Brand-wise, you can use your favorite tequila. Espolón is what we used and what is pictured in this post.
My husband and I discovered Espolón over a decade ago, when we still worked in the bar and restaurant industry. We loved it immediately for the mild taste and affordable price. It’s been one of our go-to tequilas ever since.
You’re welcome to use your favorite type of tequila, and it doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive (like Patrón). Just use what you like!
If gold tequila is all you have on hand, you can totally use that. It won’t really change the flavor, but keep in mind that it will create a light gold tint to your drink.
The same goes for the type of seltzer you use. Some fruit-flavored seltzers have a tint, so if you’re looking for a clear drink, be sure to know what you’re buying first.
Directions
Run a lime wedge along the edge of your cocktail glass or margarita glass. Pour salt onto a shallow dish or plate, then dip the wet glass rim into the salt.
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Add one shot of tequila, about 1.5 ounces.
Pour strawberry seltzer water, filling the rest of the glass.
Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice and garnish with fresh strawberries and a fresh lime wedge.
Tip: You don’t have to worry about exact measurements when making this drink at home. I recommend a ratio of 1 parts tequila to 3 parts sparkling water. Depending on the size of your glass and how strong you like your drinks, feel free to adjust the proportions accordingly.
