Frozen Blackberry Margarita (2 Ways)
A vibrant pairing of ripe blackberries and smooth tequila, this Frozen Blackberry Margarita is a true summer treat!
Frozen Blackberry Margarita Recipe
Growing up, our family had a fence in our backyard where fresh blackberries grew each summer. We had to hurry to beat the competition (birds and bees also loved them) because those delicious juicy berries sure went fast!
If I’m going to enjoy a grown-up beverage, nine times out of ten it involves tequila. This Blackberry Margarita is a unique spin on a classic cocktail favorite, and it tastes as amazing as it looks!
Prime blackberry season is July-August, so this is the perfect time to take advantage of the fresh picks waiting at your local market. (Though don’t worry, you can also use frozen blackberries if that’s what’s availableย โ this results will still be fantastic!)

Tip: if you’ve been drooling over those amazing high-powered blenders, but the price gives you sticker shock, consider purchasing one that’s been “reconditioned.” I buy a lot of our premium appliances refurbishedย โ you save a ton of money and they work just like new!
How to Make Frozen Blackberry Margaritas
Place all ingredients in a smoothie-style blender and puree until smooth. Blend longer for a smoother, more liquid cocktail, or blend quickly for an icier drink.
TIP: If fresh blackberries are not in season, feel free to substitute with frozen berries.
Pour into a margarita glass and garnish with a slice of lime or a cocktail stick full of blackberries.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Use Frozen Blackberries?
While it’s hard to beat the flavor of fresh fruit, you can absolutely use frozen fruit instead for this recipe.
Even though it might seem like you could just put the frozen blackberries straight into the blender, for best results I still recommend making a puree first, and then blending that into your margaritas.
When pureeing frozen fruit, it is easier to let it thaw a bit first. Once thawed, pat dry or drain any excess moisture, then puree as you normally would.
To Make this Drink “On the Rocks”
Puree blackberries by themselves in a high-powered blender or use a juicer to extract the juice.
Add blackberry juice, tequila, orange liquor, and lime juice to a large cocktail shaker and stir vigorously until well combined. Pour over a glass filled with ice cubes.
