TikTok Watermelon Fries are the ultimate healthy summer snack! Try them with our sweet and tangy strawberry yogurt dip!
Healthy Watermelon Fries
Watermelon fries are a deliciously sweet and refreshing spin on French fries. And in fact, they’re not fried at all!
We used a crinkle fry cutter to cut fresh watermelon into strips that look just like crinkle-cut French fries. They’re sturdy and perfect for dipping in yogurt, honey, or your favorite fruit dip! I included a recipe for a quick strawberry yogurt dip and later in the post I’ll share some other fun options for homemade dips.
This is one of my favorite new summer recipes and the perfect poolside snack that both the kids and grown-ups will love! Watermelon is a great hydrating fruit that is so refreshing on those hot summer days. And let me tell ya…it is HOT in Texas right now! My girls love watermelon and my little flock of chickens loves to eat the rinds that are leftover!
If you’re looking for a fun and healthy snack that’s easy to prepare, you’ve got to try watermelon fries!

Prep Tips
- Fruit Dip Variations: You can substitute your favorite type of seasonal fruit for the strawberries in this fruit dip recipe. Greek yogurt can be substituted for the regular vanilla yogurt. For a dairy free option, you could use non-dairy coconut yogurt.
- Seasoning: Make spicy watermelon fries by adding a sprinkle of Tajin seasoning or similar chili lime seasoning blend on top. For another more kid-friendly flavoring, try a sprinkle of kosher salt and a squeeze of lime juice on top of your watermelon sticks.
- Garnish: To pretty up your platter of watermelon fries, top with fresh mint (it looks nice and makes a surprisingly delicious combination with the watermelon!)
- More Fruit Fries Ideas: You could use this same technique with cantaloupe, honeydew melons, or even mango!
Frequently Asked Questions
How Far in Advance Can You Cut Watermelon For a Party?
You can cut watermelon up to 24 hours in advance of a party. To prevent the watermelon from drying out and losing its flavor, store the watermelon sticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
When you are ready to serve, remove the watermelon from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Also, do not add any sugar or other ingredients to the cut watermelon before storing it, as this can increase the risk of the watermelon spoiling.
How Do You Keep Cut Watermelon From Getting Soggy?
The best way to prevent your watermelon from becoming soggy or mushy is to not cut it up too soon. It will taste best when served 24 hours or less after cutting.
You can also place the watermelon sticks into a colander, which is then place into a large food storage container. That way any excess moisture drips down into the container, but the watermelon is not sitting in it and getting soggy. If using this trick, I recommend wrapping the top of the colander with plastic wrap to protect the fruit.
