Chocolate Hummus

Hummus made with chocolate? Believe it!! This sweet yet savory chocolate dip is delicious, healthy, and made with simple ingredients.

Chocolate hummus is a versatile snack that can be enjoyed on its own, or it can be used as a dip for fruits, vegetables, or crackers.

Smooth and creamy, it tastes super decadent, but is made with healthy ingredients! In addition to being naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan, chocolate hummus is a great source of protein and fiber!

My kids love Nutella, but it is pretty high in sugar. It is also made with milk, which means I can’t personally eat it often, since I am lactose intolerant. I’m so excited about this dessert hummus because it can be used just like Nutella, but is made with better-for-you things!

While traditional hummus is a savory dish, we made a dessert hummus by adding cocoa powder and honey as a natural sweetener. This chocolate hummus is smooth, creamy, just the right amount of sweet, and an unexpected twist on a classic dish.

Hummus is usuallyย made with chickpeas (garbanzo beans) that you blend in a food processor until smooth. However, our chocolate hummus recipe uses chickpea flour instead, so there’s no blender or food processor needed! You can whip up a batch of this tasty treat in 10 minutes or less!

Healthy, easy, AND delicious! Talk about the perfect snack recipe! Kids will love it because it’s chocolate, and you’ll love it because you know the secret that it’s actually good for them!

Prep Tips

  • If the mixture is too thick while you’re cooking it, add a couple Tablespoons of coconut milk to thin it out a bit.
  • Jazz up your dessert hummus by adding toppings such as mini chocolate chips or sprinkles.
  • Maple syrup can be used as a 1 to 1 substitute for honey.
  • You can use another type of milk in place of the coconut milk. Almond milk, oat milk, or cashew milk would all work well too.
  • Use dark chocolate cocoa powder to make this a dark chocolate hummus recipe, with rich flavor and a little less sweetness.
