The Blue Glacier

This bright blue drink looks like winter in a glass! So we named it the “Blue Glacier Cocktail” because it just screams icy and deliciousness!

It is the perfect tasty cocktail for the holidays, from Christmas to New Years and everything in-between!

You only need a few simple ingredients to mix up this drink, and it is easy to make in a big batch to serve a crowd. You can easily make a pitcher and keep it in the fridge to stay chilly.

This would be such a fun drink to serve this holiday season for something different from the usual red and green colored refreshments.

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz blue curaçao
  • 2 oz white cranberry juice
  • 2 oz lemon lime soda
  • Juice of half a lime

Optional Garnishes

  • Sugar, for the rim of the glass
  • Fresh mint sprig
  • Maraschino cherries

Helpful Kitchen Tools

  • Cocktail Shaker  I worked as a bartender for years during and after college and the Boston Shaker is my favorite tool! It’s simple and easy to use!

Instructions

  1. Run a lime along the rim of a tall glass and press the rim into a saucer filled with coarse sugar.
  2. Add liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously, until the outside of the shaker starts to get frosty, then empty the contents of the shaker into a cocktail glass.
  4. Top with lemon-lime soda.

Prep Tips

  • When mixing cocktails, I normally don’t recommend shaking for more than a few seconds, just enough to chill the drink. Over-shaking can break up the ice, creating a frosty effect, but that is perfect for this particular drink!
  • Instead of using sugar for the rim, you can use shredded coconut for a similar snowy experience!
  • If you don’t have white cranberry juice on hand, you can substitute with another light-colored juice. White grape juice, pineapple juice, or sweet and sour could all work.
