New Year’s Eve Dessert Board

Now that I’m a mom, New Year’s Eve looks a bit different than it used to– we usually celebrate at home with family and close friends. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a rockin’ NYE party!!

The most crucial thing to have at a New Year’s Eve party is good food! I’d even go so far as to say it’s every bit as important as a champagne toast!

With that in mind, I’m super excited to share this New Year’s Eve Charcuterie Board…the dessert version! It’s perfect for pairing with champagne or as a family-friendly platter of sweet treats that everyone is sure to love.

And with only a few minutes of prep time, it doesn’t get any easier! No cooking or baking necessary! All you need is about 20-30 minutes total time to assemble this beautiful dessert spread.

This NYE treat board is filled with candies, chocolates, and even a small cake! We kept some of the wrappers on the candies so you get a range of pretty gold colors to contrast with the dark chocolate.

I know we’re not even past Christmas yet, so if you’re looking for holiday ideas this one works too. You can easily make this make this a Christmas treat board by adding Christmas cookies and candy canes. It would also be perfect for Valentine’s Day (draw a heart instead of the year on the cake).

Instructions

This is a totally fool-proof recipe, as in…you can’t mess up! I’ll give you a few suggestions for layering and arranging, but you can get creative with it and use your own ideas too.

  1. Place the coconut cake at one of the top corners of your charcuterie board. Use the gold Sixlets candies to create the number 23 on top of the cake.
  2. Surround the cake with the Ferrero Rocher chocolates. We left them in the gold wrappers so they would look pretty on our treat board.
  3. Make a layer of white chocolate pretzels around the Ferrero Rocher balls.
  4. Use the rest of your candies and chocolates to fill up your treat board.

Substitution Ideas

Most (if not all) of the items we used should be available in the candy aisle or snack aisle at the grocery store. I’ve also linked to them on Amazon in the ingredients list above. However, if you can’t find one of the items or would like to try something else, here are some substitution ideas that will fit the theme and have a similar look.

  • Coconut Cake — Any small round cake with white frosting. Alternatively, you could use a small bowl of cream cheese fruit dip and serve with fresh fruit, such as apple slices.
  • White Chocolate Pretzels — Yogurt Pretzels or Milk Chocolate Pretzels
  • Gold Sixlets — Gold M&Ms
  • Rolos — Miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers — Thin Mint Cookies (try our homemade Ritz Cracker Thin Mints recipe!)
  • Hershey Nuggets — See’s Candies Toffe-ettes or Chocolate Covered Nuts
  • Petit Fours — Chocolate Covered Marshmallows
  • Hershey Kisses — Meringues
  • Truffles — Chocolate Drizzled Popcorn or Caramel Corn

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Can This Dessert Board Stay Out?

Unlike a regular charcuterie board, this dessert board can stay out as long as needed. The cake may need to be refrigerated, depending on what frosting is used (cream cheese frosting can only stay out for 2 hours). However, the candies can stay out for the duration of the party.

What Should I Serve With My Dessert Board?

Some helpful accompaniments include: napkins, small plates, tongs, etc. Mostly serving utensils and any festive New Year’s decorations you like.
