Elf Hat Treats

These cute Christmas treats look like little elf hats and are so easy to make! A sweet and salty combination of crunchy Bugles, creamy white chocolate, and colorful M&M’s, this is one of those recipes that looks festive and fun without requiring much effort at all.

These little elf hat treats are great for holiday parties, Christmas movie nights, or setting out as a simple snack during the busy weeks of December. Kids love helping dip and decorate them, which makes this recipe a fun activity as well as a treat. Plus, you don’t need any fancy tools or baking skills — just melt, dip, and decorate!

Whether you’re filling a holiday snack tray, making treats for a classroom party, or just craving something festive to munch on, these Bugle elf hats are a cheerful, crowd-pleasing option. They store well, travel easily, and always seem to disappear fast once they hit the table! Ask me how I know 😉

Ingredients

Helpful Kitchen Tools

  • Microwave safe bowl – We LOVE this Anyday Microwave cookware because it works for so many things!
  • Large nonstick baking sheet – The Caraway baking sheet I used here is excellent – the finished snack mix pops right off the pan when done!)

Instructions

  1. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 20 second increments, stirring between, until melted and smooth. If needed, stir in a spoonful of coconut oil to make the chocolate melt more smoothly.
  2. Dip the wide end of the Bugle in the melted white chocolate.
  3. If using sprinkles, add them now by rolling the chocolate covered end of the bugle in a small bowl of sprinkles. Press one M&M into the open end of the bugle, using melted chocolate to keep it in place.
  4. Place the treats on a non-stick baking sheet to dry.

Prep Tips

  • Chocolate – If needed, stir in a Tablespoon of coconut oil (or any light flavored oil) to help make the white chocolate melt more smoothly. Alternatively, you can use white candy melts or white chocolate melting wafers, which are formulated for candy melting and designed to melt evenly.
  • Storage – Keep the elf hat treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

Chocolate Tip

White chocolate melts best when heated gently. Microwave in short intervals and stir often to prevent scorching.

Assembly Tip

Work quickly once the Bugles are dipped so the M&M’s stick before the chocolate sets.

Variations

Use mini M&M’s for a smaller look, or swap in red and green candies for extra holiday flair.

Storage

Store Elf Hat Treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Keep them cool to prevent melting.
