Christmas Energy Bites (4 Ingredient Recipe)
Fuel your holidays with these festive Christmas Energy Bites! Made with wholesome oats, peanut butter, and M&Ms, they’re a delicious snack the whole family will love!
Easy Christmas Energy Bites
A festive spin on rolled oat energy balls, these delicious Christmas Energy Bites are the perfect treat to keep you and your loved ones full of cheer (and energy) during the busy holiday season!
If you’ve every made or tried granola bites or protein balls, these energy bites are very similar. They are made with quick oats, but they are softer than granola, so they are easy for kids to eat.
You can feel good about serving these snacks to your kids because they contain lots of nutritious ingredients, plus a little bit of chocolate. Because I don’t know about you, but my kids LOVE a little bit of chocolate added to things! (And I do too!)
Why I Love This Recipe:
- A good source of both whole grains and healthy fats, a combination that provides lasting energy.
- An easy no bake recipe with just 4 ingredients!
- Made with less refined sugar than many packaged snacks.
- Also a good source of protein and fiber.

- 2 cups quick oats (not old fashioned rolled oats)
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup honey*
- Christmas Mini M&Ms
Helpful Kitchen Tools
*Honey is not recommended for kids younger than 1 year old.
Instructions
- Add the quick oats to a large mixing bowl.
- Add the peanut butter and honey and stir until well combined. If you have time, chill the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes so it will be easier to work with.
- Portion out the dough into Tablespoon-sized balls.
- Press the M&Ms into the balls, and roll again if needed so they are round in shape. Enjoy!
Prep Tips
- Nut-free Variation: If allergies are a concern, you can substitute a different type of nut butter for the peanut butter. Cashew butter and almond butter are two of my favorite options. For a nut-free version of this recipe, use sunflower seed butter.
- Vegan Variation: To make this a vegan recipe, you can substitute your favorite sweetener for the honey. Maple syrup or molasses are two good options with similar sweetness.
- Gluten-Free Variation: While oats themselves are gluten free, you may want to check the packaging to ensure that the oats you use are certified gluten-free. Sometimes gluten free products are made in a facility that also processes ingredients containing gluten or wheat, which can allow trace amounts into other food items.
- Mix-ins: This is an easy recipe to customize with your favorite goodies. Raisins, dried cranberries white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or shredded coconut also make fantastic additions.
- Storage: The finished energy balls can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer term storage, you can keep them in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. When freezing, be sure to use a freezer bag or freezer-safe container.
