Witch Cauldron Brownie Bites

These witch’s brew brownie cauldrons are a fun Halloween treat that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy to make! Rich, fudgy brownies are baked in a muffin tin, then hollowed out in the center to create little edible “cauldrons” just waiting to be filled with frosting.

Fill each brownie cauldron with colorful frosting and top with sprinkles to create a bubbling witch’s brew. You can easily customize the frosting colors and decorations to make each batch your own. They’re bite-sized, delicious, and perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or a spooky movie night at home!

Instructions

To Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and thoroughly coat the muffin tin with non-stick baking spray.

  1. Make the Brownies – Prepare the brownie mix according to box directions and scoop about 3-4 Tablespoons of the batter into each of the cavities of the muffin pan. Bake for 14-18 minutes, or a toothpick inserted in the middle of the brownies comes out clean.
  2. Create the Cauldrons – Remove the brownies from the oven and then use the back or a measuring spoon to make an indentation in the center of each brownie. Allow brownies to cool completely.
  3. Prepare the Frosting – In a large mixing bowl (or the bowl of a stand mixer), beat together the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to beat until incorporated. Add purple food coloring 2-3 drops at a time and mix, adding a little more coloring at a time until your desired shade is reached.
  4. Decorate – Fill each of the brownies with about 2 tablespoons of frosting. Finish with Halloween sprinkles, candy eyeballs, etc.

Prep Tips:

  • Brownies – I often use brownie mix to save time (and because they’re pretty tasty!) but you can absolutely use your favorite homemade brownie recipe. I love these Nutella brownies!
  • Frosting – We used a homemade cream cheese frosting but you can use your favorite buttercream recipe or even store-bought to save time. You can also switch up the color of the frosting; orange and neon green both look fabulously spooky!
  • Storage – Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. If using buttercream frosting instead of cream cheese, they can be kept at room temperature.
