Texas Trash Spicy Chex Mix
This classic Texas Trash Snack Mix is crunchy, savory, and slightly spicy — a family favorite for holiday gatherings and homemade gifts.

Texas Trash Snack Mix
If you love bold, savory snacks that disappear fast at parties, this Texas Trash Snack Mix is a must-make. This recipe comes straight from my mother-in-law and has been a staple at our holiday gatherings for as long as I can remember. It’s the kind of snack everyone casually “tries”… and then keeps circling back to until the bowl is empty!
Texas Trash is a crunchy mix of cereal, pretzels, and nuts, all tossed in a savory, slightly spicy seasoning that bakes onto every piece. It’s salty, buttery, and perfectly seasoned with just enough heat to keep things interesting. Every handful has that irresistible crunch and flavor that makes this snack so hard to stop eating.
This snack mix is perfect for setting out at holiday parties, game days, or family get-togethers, and it also makes a fantastic homemade gift. Package it up in festive bags or tins for neighbors, teachers, or friends — it’s one of those simple, nostalgic recipes that always gets asked for once people taste it.

I found it very soggy after only baking for 15 minutes. I ended up adding more time in 15 minute increments to try and crisp it up. Very nice flavor though!
Thanks for the feedback! I think that our oven may run a bit hot, because ours was totally dry after 15 minutes, but I added a note to the instructions just in case!
Bake for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes to crisp it up
