Campfire Cocktail
Warm and spicy, just like a bonfire on a summer night — this Campfire Cocktail is made with Fireball cinnamon whiskey and is layered to look like glowing embers!
“Campfire” Fireball Cocktail
Summer is on the way and that means warm nights, sunsets, and bonfires!
I have such fond memories of these campfires of my childhood. During the summer when I was a kid we would visit family and the evenings were spent around the fire, eating hot dogs and roasting marshmallows. I’m sure the grown-ups enjoyed some grown-up beverages too!
Now that I’m a grown-up myself, I’ve decided that it’s high time I create a cocktail that is perfect for those summer bonfire nights. This Campfire Cocktail is made with a blend of liquor, juices, and Fireball cinnamon whiskey…for a kick! It’s sweet, spicy, and sultry…like those summer nights by the fire.
And it even looks like a campfire too! This is a layered drink, that fades from a bright red to orange to a golden yellow at the top. And it’s easy to make with simple ingredients and mixers.
Even though I made this recipe with summer in mind, it would be perfect to add to your fall cocktails list too! That ombre effect is so neat…it’s sure to be an instant favorite!

- 1 teaspoon Grenadine
- 1 ounce Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
- 1 ounce Bourbon
- 2 ounces Peach Juice
- 1 ounce Rum
- 2 oz Cranberry Juice
Amounts are for one serving. Recipe is intended for readers 21+; please enjoy responsibly!
Our Favorite Bartender Tools
- Stainless Steel 2-Piece Cocktail Shakers (This is the style I learned to bartend with and still prefer)
- Cocktail strainer
- Cocktail glasses — A highball, margarita glass, mason jar… almost any fun glassware could work for this festive tropical drink!
Instructions
- Pour grenadine into the bottom of the glass. Fill the glass to the top with ice.
- Use a cocktail shaker to combine the rum and cranberry juice. Pour slowly into the glass, so to not entirely mix with the grenadine at the bottom of the glass.
- Rinse the cocktail shaker and shake to combine the Fireball whisky, bourbon and peach juice. Pour this mixture into the glass, again, do this carefully so you have a layered look: red, orange, gold.
It’s ok if the layers mix a little — it’s impossible for them not to do so! But if you work slowly, you can make it so they blend in a way that looks like a sunset, or the flames in a bonfire. So pretty!
Garnish with a maraschino cherry and an orange peel, orange slice, or a lemon wheel. Have fun with it! A cinnamon stick would also look fab and add an extra bit of flavor and fragrant spice!
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Fireball Whiskey?
Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is a blend of Canadian whisky, cinnamon flavoring, and sweeteners. It is produced by the Sazerac company. Because it is whiskey that is mixed with other ingredients, it is not quite as strong as straight whiskey (33% ABV compared to 40% ABV).
It is pretty common these days, but if for some reason you can’t find Fireball at the store, you can substitute with another brand of cinnamon flavored whiskey.

Can You Make This Into a Frozen Drink?
Sure! Because summer nights can be HOT and sticky, a refreshingly icy drink could be just the thing! And this is one of those great cocktails that can be prepared either way!
To make this a frozen drink, simple triple the ingredient amounts. It doesn’t have to be an exact measurement, as your blender size may vary compared to mine, but just keep the same basic recipe ratio.
Add ingredients to a blender with ice and mix until smooth and slushy-like.
TIP: Freeze the juice into ice cubes, so that you can make your frozen drink without watering it down.

What is the ABV of the Campfire Cocktail?
This drink is delicious! Just wondering if you have a recipe to make it in a large batch.
All you have to do is scale-up the ingredient amounts, keeping the proportions the same. It doesn’t have to be exact, you can’t really mess up! Just adjust to taste as you fill up your pitcher. I recommend keeping the drink mix in a pitcher in the fridge without ice, then pouring into glasses of ice when you’re ready to serve.
What kind of bourbon and rum do you recommend?
Your favorite kind! It’s mixed, so it won’t matter as much if you were drinking it straight. Bacardi or something similar is a good rum for mixed drinks. Bourbon, just something mid-range too would work.
