Prep Tips

  • Cherries – For pink colored cookies, skip the step where you dry the cherries. The extra maraschino cherry juice will give the cookies a pretty pink hue.
  • Chocolate – If you don’t have miniature chocolate chips on hand, you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate bars and chop into smaller pieces.
  • Yield – We used a medium cookie scoop to portion out the dough, which is about 2 Tablespoons.
  • Substitutions – The sweetened condensed milk is our binding agent in this recipe and it also adds a touch more sweet flavor, like ice cream. If you don’t have any on hand, you can use one large egg instead. Keep in mind that using an egg will result is slightly less sweet cookies.
  • Storage – The cookies do not require refrigeration. Instead, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can also freeze the cookies for up to 2-3 months. Simply place them in a gallon size freezer bag or freezer safe container.
