Homemade Strawberry Moonshine

Summer is almost here, and that means warm weather, back porches, pool parties, and the occasional fruity cocktail!

This homemade strawberry moonshine recipe is the perfect summer treat, and it is surprisingly easy to make at home.

True moonshine is illegally distilled liquor — we are not making our own alcohol here (that would be a big no-no), but rather fruit-infused liquor.

It’s just like the fruity “moonshine” you’ve probably seen in stores, but it’s a lot of fun to make it yourself! Plus, you know exactly what goes into it.

This strawberry moonshine is absolutely delicious, and it is a beautiful red color too. Super festive for summer parties and events! (Grown-ups only of course!)

Fill the rest of the mason jar with vodka (or everclear if you prefer) and store in a cool, dark place. The fridge is perfect for this.

Allow the strawberries to steep in liquor for at least two days, but no more than five days is necessary. Strain your strawberry moonshine to remove fruit pieces. Add your red shimmer glitter, shake well, and enjoy (responsibly of course!)

Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine

If you prefer sweeter drinks, then this strawberry lemonade moonshine is just the thing! It’s super easy to make — all you do is add a homemade lemon simple syrup to your strawberry moonshine.

How to make Lemon simple syrup:

  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Place lemon juice, sugar, and water in a pan over medium heat and reduce until the liquid is halved. It will have a syrup-like consistency. Add the simple syrup to the finished Strawberry Moonshine to taste.

Hi Rita – I haven’t tried this, but I’d imagine there is a recipe for that! I’ll have to start tinkering around in the kitchen…sounds yummy! Though I might use vodka because Everclear is so strong.

Hi! Once the moonshine is made do you know how long it will stay if stored?

OK so I am trying to understand. Possibly overthinking. Once you make this the recipe says to sit in the fridge. Can you ever move it from the fridge to the counter or does it go bad? I wanted to make a pint for each of the ladies to gift at our Annual Christmas Cookie exchange. If it stays in the fridge what is the shelf life? I’m a seasoned canner so trying to make sense of the correct way to do this rather than create waste. Thank you

    Hi!
Making moonshine, beer, wine, brandy & cet. for personal consumption is perfectly legal. Mass producing it and selling it without proper licensing is not. Remember that this is America (unless you’re Canadian or something…).

Thanks! When writing posts about alcohol I have to err on the side of caution for liability reasons 😉

Guy, you are “not as correct as you could be” in terms of moonshine. Making moonshine without the required gov’t licenses is completely and totally illegal. The rest is ok.

Distilling alcohol (moonshine) for your own consumption is still illegal, sorry.

This appears to be a flavored vodka receipe rather than a moonshine recipe. Why not just call it what it is

Because I can’t tell people to distill their own alcohol, which is technically what moonshine is. This recipe is just for fun 😉
