Frequently Asked Questions
How Many Cookies Does This Recipe Make?
This recipe makes about 8-10 cookies. They are BIG cookies, fit for a cookie monster!
A larger cookie gives you more surface area to decorate. However, if you’d like to make smaller cookies, you can do so. Just keep in mind that smaller cookies will bake faster, so start checking them at 7-8 minutes.
Can You Use Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough?
In this post I included a recipe to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. However, you can also use store-bought chocolate chip cookies or refrigerated cookie dough to save time!
Then you can decorate them with the blue frosting and cookie crumbles.
Keep in mind that using packaged dough or pre-made cookies will give you a different yield than our from-scratch cookie recipe.
If you really want to switch things up, you could use a different type of cookie for the base, such as peanut butter cookies! Have fun with it!
Can You Make This Recipe Gluten Free?
Yes! With a few simple swaps these can be gluten-free cookies!
First, you’ll want to use a gluten-free all purpose flour instead of regular flour.
Next, you’ll want to purchase gluten free sandwich cookies and gluten free mini chocolate chip cookies, for the topping.
As always, I recommend that you check the packaging on all ingredients to be sure that there is no potential for cross-contamination, if that is a concern.
Do These Cookies Need to be Refrigerated?
These cookies are best stored at room temperature, in an airtight container. I recommend storing them in a single layer, so the icing stays pretty.
Keeping these cookies in the fridge is not needed and can actually dry them out more quickly.
