This easy Halloween bark recipe is loaded with colorful swirls of chocolate, and topped with festive candies, cookies, and pretzels. It’s the perfect spooky sweet to make and share!

Candy bark is a festive chocolate confection made by spreading different types of chocolate on a baking sheet, adding toppings, chilling until it sets, and then breaking into bite-sized pieces.

It’s one of the best desserts for Halloween because it’s easy to customize with different candies, sprinkles, and decorations, so you can use what you have on hand. The no-bake process makes it a great recipe for kids to help make, and you end up with a large batch to serve a crowd at a Halloween party or to give out as treats.

With a quick-setting time and endless options for flavors and toppings, chocolate bark is a low-prep and fun treat for spooky season!

Instructions

To Prep: Line a 9×11 baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. Melt the Chocolate – Add each color of chocolate wafers to their own microwave-safe bowl. One at a time, heat in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between, until melted and smooth. There’s not a set amount needed for this recipe, start with 1 cup of each and see if that fills up your pan. You can always melt more chocolate if needed.
  2. Swirl on Pan – Pour all of the melted chocolates onto the prepared baking sheet. Use an offset spatula to spread the chocolate into an even layer. Then, use a butter knife or toothpick to gently swirl the colors together.
  3. Decorate – While the chocolate is still wet, add any candy toppings or sprinkles that you’re using. If needed, press the candy into the melted chocolate so it will stay in place.
  4. Chill – Place the pan in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set. Then you can break the Halloween candy bark into bite-sized pieces

Prep Tips

  • Chocolate – Melting wafers are perfect for this recipe because they are designed to be melted and for making candy. If you can’t find orange or black melting wafers, you could use white chocolate melting wafers and add orange food coloring and/or milk chocolate melting wafers and add black food coloring. You could also use candy melts, which aren’t technically chocolate, but are also designed for melting and making your own candy treats, and they usually come in a wide variety of colors.
  • Toppings – This is an easy recipe to customize with your favorite candy or even leftover Halloween candy! Aside from what we used, other tasty options you could sprinkle on top of your chocolate bark include: milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, Reese’s pieces, nuts, or candy eyeballs.
  • Storage – Keep your leftover candy bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind that certain toppings, such as pretzels or cookies, may start to lose their crunch sooner than that. You can keep it in the fridge, but refrigeration is not required.
