Easy Tropical Rum Punch

My husband and I made this tropical rum punch for a recent get-together we hosted for family and friends, and it was a huge hit! I’m sharing because it really is the perfect (grown-up) summer party drink!

What makes this recipe a bit different than the standard rum punch is that we used peach-infused rum. It gives it more depth and a hint more sweetness – it’s just “peachy!” If you like bananas, try our banana rum punch too, made with banana rum!

For me, festive fruit flavors embody the spirit of summer, and our tropical rum punch is a delicious medley of fresh juices combined with infused rum. It’s like a vacation in your mouth!

The first step is making the melon balls, so they have time to freeze.

How to Make “Ice” Using Fresh Fruit

This is really easy if you have a melon-baller โ€” just scoop out the cantaloupe, place in a freezer-safe bowl, and put in the freezer while you prep and mix everything else.

This chills your tropical rum punch without watering it down! Plus they look beautiful in your glass!

How Mix the Rum Punch

To make a pitcher our tropical rum punch, mix ingredients using these proportions:

  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 1 part orange juice
  • 1 part ginger ale
  • 1 part sweet & sour
  • 1 part peach rum

(For example, 1 “part” might equal 1 cup, depending on the amount of punch you want to make)

TIP: Using “parts” instead of exact measurements allows you to adjust the amount for the number of servings you wish to make, whether it is one individual cocktail, or a pitcher for your backyard barbecue. But honestly, there’s no way to “mess” it up, just taste and adjust as needed!

Next, add grenadine or pomegranate juice until you have a gorgeous red-orange punch, the color of a tropical sunset.

When the melon balls are frozen, add them to the pitcher to keep the rum punch cold. I also make sure that each glass I serve has melon balls too.

They work so well to keep the drinks cold, and when they soften, you can eat them!

Can You Use Another Type of Rum?

If you don’t have peach rum at home and are wondering if you can use another kind of rum for this recipe, the answer is yes! Silver rum or coconut rum (like Malibu) would also taste fabulous with the tropical fruit juices.

Can You Use a Different Type of Fruit for the “Ice”?

Sure! We used cantaloupe because it’s easy to scoop and usually easy to find at the grocery store. Mango, watermelon, honeydew melon, etc. would also work and look beautiful.
