Instructions

  1. Add one scoop of sherbet to each cup. You want the cups to be filled about 1/3 of the way with this frozen treat.
  2. Slowly pour soda into the cups, until they have about 1/2 inch of space left at the top. Add lemon-lime soda into the cups with the lime sherbet and cherry soda into the cups with cherry sherbet.
  3. Top each drink with a swirl of whipped cream and a stir stick filled with colorful gumdrops.

To Make This A Boozy Punch:

Want to make a special treat for the grown-ups? Just add a shot of vodka or light rum to each cup before you pour in the soda. A shot should be about 1 1/2 ounces of alcohol.

Alternatively, you could skip the liquor and top your sherbet with prosecco or another type of sparkling wine instead of the soda! This would make a fabulous champagne punch for the holiday season!

Prep Tips:

  • Punch Bowl Recipe – While we made these individual servings, you can also serve the traditional way in a punch bowl. To do so, simply fill the bowl with scoops of sherbet. You could do both the lime and cherry sherbet and then top with lemon-lime soda so you can see the colors of both. Or you could make a bowl for each separate flavor.
  • Garnish – Stir sticks are longer and thicker than a toothpick, but smaller than a popsicle stick. They are the perfect size for skewering a few gumdrops as colorful and tasty garnishes! You could also use toothpicks, cocktail spears, or coffee stir straws if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Serve With – This is a recipe that works best when you serve immediately after preparing, since the sherbet and whipped cream will melt. It could be fun to have a punch bar, where you keep the different flavors of soda in pitchers or a drink dispenser. As your guests approach, you can scoop the sherbet into their cups and top with their choice of soda. You can also have different types of candy on hand for garnish.
  • Substitutions – As an alternative to lemon lime soda, you could also use ginger ale. This delicious non-alcoholic Christmas punch would also work to serve as desserts.
