Prep Tips

  • You can make this drink look snowy white by adding a splash of coconut milk to the cocktail shaker when you mix the drink.
  • Feel free to use either salt or sugar on the rim of the glass. It’s entirely up to your preference whether you’d like a sweet or salty finish.
  • Want a sweeter drink? Add a splash of simple syrup to the cocktail shaker. I recommend starting with just a splash and taste-testing before you add more.
  • If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can mix this drink in a mason jar or even just a regular large cup and mix with a whisk.
  • To make a pitcher, increase the ingredient amounts based on the amount of guests you want to serve. You just want to keep the ratio of equal parts tequila, triple sec, and white cranberry juice.
  • If you can’t find white cranberry juice, try our Mistletoe Margaritas, made with regular red cranberry juice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is The Best Tequila To Use?

Normally for margaritas I say that you can pretty much use any type of tequila you like. However, for this particular recipe you’ll want to use silver tequila (tequila blanco) to keep the frosty clear look of the drink.

As far as price point, you don’t need to buy the most expensive tequila if you don’t want to — so don’t worry about splurging on Patron! When I make margaritas I usually stick to a nice mid-range tequila so it tastes good but isn’t super pricey. Espolon is what is pictured here and one of my favorite kinds. I also like Cuervo Tradicional, but again, you can use your fav!

Is This Really A Margarita?

Yep! A traditional margarita is comprised of three main components: tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. All of those are present in this drink! We just added a few festive touches to make it just right for the holiday season.
