Fresh Cantaloupe Margaritas

When you think of margaritas, you probably think of lime, or perhaps even strawberry or watermelon.

However, once you take a sip of this Cantaloupe Margarita, it’ll be at the top of your list! Smooth and sweet, with a twist of tart lime juice and spicy Tajin seasoning on the rim, these melon margs are downright magical!

Fresh cantaloupe is the number one ingredient for this recipe, so it gives this drink a creamier texture than your usual margarita. Dare I say it’s a bit…luxurious?!

Despite the fancy flavors, this is a fairly easy recipe! If you’ve used a blender to make frozen margaritas before then you can totally handle this easy cantaloupe margarita recipe!

So whether you’re sipping this by the pool or soaking up those last warm summer days, Cantaloupe Margaritas are sure to be a hit!

Instructions

First, you’ll want to prepare your glass. We used Tajin (chili lime seasoning) for the rim of our glass, but you could also use regular coarse salt or margarita salt. Pour the seasoning or salt into a shallow dish or saucer. To get the seasoning to stick to the rim of your glass, run a lime wedge along the rim and then flip the glass and press the rim gently into the plate of seasoning/salt.

To make the cantaloupe margarita mixer, add to a blender: cantaloupe, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, margarita or sour mix, and cantaloupe syrup. Blend until smooth.

Fill your prepared glass with ice. Pour cantaloupe mixture through a strainer, into the glass. Garnish with a lime or a slice of fresh cantaloupe. Makes 2 servings.

Prep Tips

  • To make a pitcher of cantaloupe margaritas, simply double the ingredients. After blending, strain into a pitcher instead of directly into the glass. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve, then pour into prepared glasses.
  • We used Tajin (chili lime seasoning) for the rim of our glass. This combination of tangy and spicy flavor perfectly compliments the fruity and sweet margaritas! However, you are welcome to use regular plain salt (or no salt at all) for your glass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Use a Regular Cantaloupe?

We used seedless cantaloupe for this recipe because it allows you to skip a step and add the cantaloupe directly to the blender. However, if you have a regular cantaloupe with seeds, simply scrape out the seeds and pulp before adding to the blender.

What Is Cantaloupe Syrup?

We used cantaloupe syrup to add a richer flavor to our margaritas. Similar to coffee syrup, this cantaloupe syrup is essentially concentrated cantaloupe flavor and sweetener.

However, if you can’t find this ingredient, you can use simple syrup instead. While it won’t have that extra cantaloupe flavor, simple syrup will give your margaritas the right amount of sweetness.
