- Acrylic Craft Paint โ Green and Brown for the tree ornaments, Yellow for the star ornaments

- Rhinestones, Assorted Colors โ To decorate your ornaments
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Ribbon โ for hanging your ornaments
What size craft sticks should I use?
We used the jumbo size craft sticks, because they are usually thinner and easier to cut with scissors.
If using standard popsicle sticks (like the size you’d actually find inside a popsicle), they may be harder to cut when making the tree ornament. However, size-wise they should still work just fine.
The smaller popsicle sticks work great for the star since there is no trimming needed, and the larger size also work well.
How to Make Christmas Ornaments with Popsicle Sticks
First, paint your craft sticks:
- 5 yellow sticks
- 1 brown stick
- 5 green sticks
If needed, apply a second coat of paint.
Cover all craft sticks with a top coat of glitter glue or clear glitter paint. Allow to dry completely.
If using a wooden star, paint it yellow too. If you’re using card stock, craft foam, etc. you won’t need paint the star.
How to Make a Craft Stick Star Ornament
Arrange your yellow craft sticks to form a star, so that the ends of each stick overlap. Use a hot glue gun to secure the craft sticks in place.
Glue rhinestones to the craft sticks for decorations.
You may even look for self-adhesive rhinestones to make things easier for kids.
Glue a loop of ribbon to the back of your ornament to hang it to the tree.
How to Make Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Ornaments
Measure and cut a two-inch section from each end of the brown craft stick to be the tree trunk.
Dry fit three green craft sticks in a triangle shape to be the tree.
Attach at the intersections with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Attach remaining two green craft sticks as the tree branches and then trim excess with scissors.
